Translation Modes
Offline, online and hybrid modes, each with its own language coverage.
The three modes
- Offline only: everything goes through Apple on-device translation — free, no internet, stays on your Mac.
- Online only: everything goes to a cloud engine, with broader language coverage.
- Hybrid: languages with an installed pack go offline, the rest go online — balancing cost and coverage.
Online engines
- Baidu Translate API: enter the App ID and secret key; translation follows the built-in language mapping.
- LLM: fill in Base URL, model name and API Key; the language scope matches all store languages.
- Both engines are set up in Settings, with credentials kept in the macOS Keychain.
Language coverage by mode
Before choosing a mode, check that your target languages are in range; anything outside needs another mode or manual input.
