iPhone Duo Screenshot Templates: Full Foldable Support in the Screenshot Studio
iPhone Duo turns one screen into two — which, for App Store screenshots, means another set of sizes to prepare. The Screenshot Studio now treats folded and unfolded as first-class canvases: built-in templates export directly, and device frames are redrawn to match the real hardware.
Two new device classes: folded and unfolded
Alongside iPhone, iPad and Mac, the studio adds two device classes: iPhone Duo Folded (outer display 1398 × 2034) and iPhone Duo Unfolded (inner display 2007 × 2853). Each is its own canvas, so copy, screenshot slots and assets can be tuned separately.
All 46 built-in template sets now include page data for both classes, scaled proportionally from the iPhone canvas — open a template and export straight away, no manual re-layout.
The device frame was redrawn to match the real hardware: the unfolded inner display has an under-display camera and no Dynamic Island, the hinge side keeps square corners, and small hinge-crease indentations sit at the middle of the left and right edges; the folded outer display has a single punch-hole camera in the top-right.
What a foldable changes for screenshots
The inner and outer displays share the same aspect ratio, so content scales proportionally — but the pixel sizes differ: 1398 × 2034 for the outer display and 2007 × 2853 for the inner one. App Store Connect treats them as two device classes, so each set is uploaded separately; one does not stand in for the other.
The inner display is wider, giving the same headline more room when unfolded; conversely, a dense layout built for the inner screen gets cramped on the outer one. The studio lets you fine-tune each canvas separately instead of forcing one layout onto both.
Produce a full Duo set in the studio
The flow matches iPhone: pick a template (built-in or one of yours) → switch to the iPhone Duo Folded / Unfolded device tab → apply screenshots in one click → export. Portrait templates automatically carry a landscape twin, editable and exportable on its own.
After exporting you can push to App Store Connect from the app with your own API key; the folded and unfolded sets go to their respective placements — no uploading folder by folder in the browser.
In practice: our own app already ships Duo sets
Our own app, AI Worksheet Cleaner, has refreshed its App Store screenshots and completed iPhone Duo support: the same template set exports to both the folded and unfolded canvases, so Duo users see layouts built for the larger screen.
The two images below are that template rendered on each canvas (shown with the built-in “Erase the test paper” template and placeholder screenshot slots). The unfolded inner display leaves more room for the copy, while the folded outer display fits the key message into a narrower body.
A few practical tips
First decide whether you really need two layouts: if the UI is identical in both forms, one design can be exported to each canvas — but the pixel sizes still have to match each device class.
Mind the safe areas: the unfolded body has rounded corners on the outer side and square corners on the hinge side, so keep key content away from the very edges; the folded outer display is narrower, so keep headlines short to avoid wrapping or overflow.
FAQ
Can old iPhone screenshots be used as Duo screenshots?
Not directly. The pixel sizes differ (outer 1398 × 2034, inner 2007 × 2853) and App Store Connect validates pixels. But the template data is already prepared for the Duo canvases, so just export again.
Do I have to provide both folded and unfolded?
App Store Connect treats them as two device classes and usually expects a set for each; providing only one does not generate the other.
Do I need to make landscape sets too?
Portrait templates automatically generate a landscape twin, editable and exportable on its own — use it as needed.
